You're probably familiar with James Hilton's novel
Lost Horizon and his invention of Shangri-La, a hidden place situated somewhere in the Himalayas in which spirituality reigns, time does not lead to decay, paradisiac surroundings, marvelous people etc. (the inspiration of which is probably
Shambala).
Well, a very astute and knowledgeable traveller, Michael Buckley, wrote a guide to getting to the possible locations of Shangri-La.:) I have not yet read the book, but will do so the minute I get my hands on it. It does seem to be a great read.
In the meantime, I found
this nice interview with the author about the book.
PS: for an English explanation of Shambala,
here.
