Doing Time, Doing Vipassana

An excellent documentary on the impact of meditation in an Indian prison.

A very excellent and interesting video. At first my intent was to watch in order to pass this along to several of our clients looking at or in the midst of long prison sentences. Then I saw anyone would benefit.

Can't imagine sitting still for an hour, much less 3 days!

I know what you mean! They do sit stil for even more than one hour, but they take breaks between the different meditation sessions. Apparently it all comes with practice:-) and there are peuple who actually can stay for days in meditation without interruption.
The minimum retreat time for a Goenka Vipassana retreat is 10 days and one does about 10 h of meditation/day. No talking is allowed. And even with the breaks it is stil extremely demanding. I have friends who have done it. Some loved it, others hated it.
There are some really interesting videos on YouTube made
by people who sent on retreat and who explain how that sent for them, what expériences they had etc.
I'd love to try it myself, but that will have to wait a while:-)
